All freshmen take Health and Success 101, which are graduation requirements. Students plan for college and career by creating a 10 year plan during their freshman year, and continuing to mark their progress through the Get Focused, Stay Focused curriculum.
After nearly 3 semesters of virtual learning, including all of the 2020-21 school year, Southwest High School returned to in person learning this year. Recognizing that our students, staff, and community have endured a challenging, difficult time, Southwest is focused on supporting wellness. Led by a coalition for student wellness, composed of staff, students, and community partners, the school began with the ideal of connection before content. The initiative is supported by the Character Strong curriculum presented during the advisory class. The overarching goal is to re-connect students with their school with a welcoming, supportive environment. While this is always a priority, it is especially important during our recovery from the pandemic.
Southwest High School Students thrive in a positive environment that promotes well-being as well as academic, co-curricular, and extra-curricular programs.
