School Description and Mission Statement (School Year 2019—20)
At Rocketship Mosaic we strive to uphold one mission: To close the opportunity gap for our students. As members of this movement, we understand the need to put children first. We set high standards for our students and staff members. These high standards are evident in both the academic programs and socio-emotional education that we provide for our students. In fact, Rocketship Mosaic was recently recognized as a California Distinguished School for 2020!
Our Core Beliefs
We know that in order for our students to be competitive with their peers from surrounding districts and neighborhoods, they will have to be creative problem solvers, eloquent writers, and avid readers. They will have to demonstrate grit and determination, and they will have to embody our 5 core values: Responsibility, Respect, Persistence, Empathy, and Global Citizenship. We know that our academic goals will not be attained unless we provide our instructional staff with ongoing professional development opportunities to ensure both alignments of instructional practice, and a common instructional "language" that promotes rigorous learning experiences for students. We also know that our students will need a strong cultural education. To that end, we seek to establish and uphold strong behavioral norms across our campus, while providing our students with rich cultural opportunities.
A Lasting Impact
We believe that none of the work we do will have any weight or lasting impact if we fail to invest parents in the importance of our mission. When we send our students to middle school, we know that their parents must continue to act as advocates to ensure the success of the work that we have started at ROMO.
Our Primary Goals
In short, our success as a school will be defined by the following goals: Building a community where parents act as advocates, providing a Common Core Standards aligned program that promotes academic rigor, and establishing a culture of excellence where every student's learning potential is maximized each year.
